About Us
The Hybrid Five is a Christian singing group that performs a variety of musical styles (gospel, blues, jazz, and contemporary, to name a few) to glorify God and reach listeners for Christ locally and throughout the world.

Our History
The Hybrid Five is a group of five siblings who love to play and sing for the Lord. Their music ministry began in late 2016, and in 2019 the singers were named Missouri's Most Musical Family by the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs. Since then, the Lord has blessed them with many opportunities to share His message, including over 110 live performances, not counting services at their home church in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, since 2020.
They are coached and accompanied by their father, Dr. James Cockman III, who was named the 2022 Church Musician of the Year by the Missouri Federation of Music Clubs. He is a classical and Gospel award-winning pianist with a unique style combining classical, jazz, and church music. In addition to coaching and accompanying The Hybrid Five, James performs with multiple groups and as a solo concert artist.
Our Ministry
The Bible calls us to not only share the Gospel but to sing praises and worship, and we believe music is a powerful way to reach others. Music makes a strong impact, even in situations where words fall short, and it is a universal language. We have been given the gift of music, and we know that music is our way to share the Gospel. We have ministered locally in Missouri for a few years, but we feel the Lord is calling us to reach others on a national and global scale. Our Name
Many have wondered why we are called The Hybrid Five, and there are a few reasons. James is the Hybrid Pianist, and naturally that would make us The Hybrid Five. We also do not perform only one style of music; our concerts include a variety of different styles and are a "hybrid" with what we hope is a style for everyone. Last, but definitely not least, it's because we are called to be in the world, but not of the world.
